Pictured above is the group from 2016.
The river may have been angry with all the recent heavy rains my friends, but the scouts of Troop 25 will ride it come hell or high water. This will happen rain or shine. We have 10 signed up. If you want to join in it’s not too late.

We will be using the services of Great River Outfitters in Windsor, VT for our canoe rentals. They are about a 50 minute drive from camp. We will leave camp at 8:45am to get there in time for the 10:00am shuttle to the put in area. We will car pool from camp. How do I get there? Click this link –>right here<–.
Here’s the details.
- Cost is $65 per person for either canoe or kayak. That’s $60 for the rental plus some other fees. The trip is rain or shine. To hold the canoes this has already been paid. Reimbursement can be made by cash, check, PayPal, or Venmo.
- Easy down river trip. The trip is promoted as 4 hours but it won’t take us 3 hours.
- Swimming or fishing. Wear your river shorts and do some swimming. We want to stretch out the trip.
- Excellent views along the way. It’s an awesome stretch of river. Check out the photos below.
- There is a brewery across the street from the outfitter. Harpoon Brewery has purchased what was Long Trail Brewery. Check it out here: Harpoon Brewery. Pretty good menu. Check it out here: menu.
- There is a craft distiller across the street from the outfitter. SILO Distillery is a “farm to barn to bottle” craft distiller. If you know anything about Vermont they do it right. Check it out here: SILO Distillery. They do not offer food.
We will stop at Harpoon Brewery for lunch and you will have to pick up the tab for what you eat and drink.
They do offer kayaks. If we end up with an odd number of participants someone will have to use one. If you prefer one you will have to let us know. ASAP.

The outfitter offers more than just canoes and kayaks. They also have something they call the “Path of Life Garden”. Here’s a sample. Camping is available there as well.

Relax. Have fun. There’s no rush on this trip.
